Marion E. Schirer October 20, 1930 - August 13, 2024 ROANOKE - Marion E. Schirer, 93, of Roanoke, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka. He was born on October 20, 1930, in Roanoke, IL, to Elmer and Alta Wilson Schirer. He married Jeanne Shanks on December 4, 1955, in Secor, IL. She survives. Also surviving is one son, Myron (Cordelia) Schirer-Suter; one daughter, Sharon (Richard) Hill; three grandchildren: Heather (Philip) Booker, Eric Hill, and Cedric Schirer-Suter; five great-grandchildren: Callie, Gabriel, Nolan, Skylar, and Zoe Booker; and one sister, Doris Haas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters: Edna Augsburger and Donna Gibbs. An Army veteran, Marion proudly served his country in the Korean War. He was a true patriot who loved his country. He was a member the Roanoke American Legion Post # 463. Marion was a lifelong farmer in the Roanoke area.
