Roger D. Mitchell July 17, 1928 - August 12, 2024 GREENFIELD, IN - Roger D. Mitchell, 96, of Greenfield, passed away on August 12, 2024. He was born on January 17, 1928, in Eureka, IL to Roger and Ellen (Hughes) Mitchell. He was a graduate of Eureka High School and earned his higher education from Eureka College. Roger served in the United States Army as a Sargent in Korea for 2 years. He operated a Standard Oil Service Station in Fortville. Most of his life was spent in various sales positions. He retired in 1995 from the mailroom at USA Group. Roger was a member of Fortville Christian Church and the Fortville F & AM Lodge No. 207. He became a mason in 1953 and was elected master in 1967. Roger was an avid reader and historian and was dedicated to war history. He was persistent in continuing to learn math skills and loved word searches, which he always carried with him.
