Laurine Venette Brown March 15, 1956 - August 11, 2024 NORMAL - Dr. Laurine Venette Brown, 68, of Normal, IL, took her last earthly breath August 11, 2024, after a long journey with endometrial cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 7, 2024, 11:00 AM at Evelyn Chapel on the IWU campus, followed by time to gather at Joslin Atrium. In lieu of flowers, we invite donations to the Ecology Action Center's Tree Corps, Save the Children or other organizations of your choice. Laurine was born March 15, 1956, to Ruth and Norman Brown. She grew up with three siblings in a military family. Her childhood was full of camping trips, exploring nature and visiting family farms. Laurine graduated with a BS in Human Resources and Family Studies from the University of Illinois, earned a Masters in Public Health at Boston University, and a PhD in Nutrition from Tufts University for her field research on maternal-child health in Bangladesh.
